Global healthcare standards in 2026 reflect a strong performance by Asian and European nations, according to Numbeo's latest Health Care Index.
The ranking, compiled by Visual Capitalist evaluates medical quality, infrastructure, staff competence, and costs across the globe through public surveys.
Taiwan leads the world with an index score of 87, securing the top spot in global healthcare performance. South Korea follows closely in second place with a score of 83, while the Netherlands holds third position at 82. Japan and Austria round out the top five, scoring 80 and 79, respectively.
Latin America makes a prominent appearance in the top tier, with Ecuador ranking sixth with a score of 78, sharing the same index rating as Finland and Thailand, which occupy seventh and eighth places.
European nations dominate the remaining positions in the top 15. Denmark, Spain, and France tie with a score of 77, holding the ninth, tenth, and eleventh spots. Belgium, Czechia, and Norway each recorded a score of 76, occupying twelfth through fourteenth positions. Lithuania completes the top 15 list with a score of 75.
