The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has mapped out the financial landscape for the 2027 General Election, highlighting the most expensive constituencies to contest in the country.

The data reveals stark variations in the resources required to mount a parliamentary campaign, with northern frontier regions dominating the top spending tiers.

North Horr emerges as the most financially demanding constituency, where candidates face an estimated cost of Sh94 million to run for office. This is followed by Wajir South, where a parliamentary bid requires Sh64.1 million.

The high financial stakes are also highly visible across the Turkana region, which accounts for three of the top six most expensive electoral zones. Turkana North leads this cluster at Sh54 million, while campaigns in Turkana West and Turkana East are projected to cost Sh48.7 million and Sh45 million, respectively.

In Isiolo North, candidates will need to navigate a spending threshold of Sh46.6 million to contest the seat.

Beyond the constituency-specific spending figures, the electoral body has established the official timelines leading up to the vote.

The general election day is scheduled for August 10, 2027. Ahead of the polls, the official campaign period will formally commence on May 29.

Candidates will have just over two months to canvass for votes before all campaign activities strictly end on August 7, exactly 48 hours before the polling day.
