Counterfeiting is a notable problem within Kenya's alcoholic beverage industry, according to the Anti-Counterfeit Authority's Firm-Level Survey Report 2025.
The survey indicates that Gin is the most counterfeited category, with 15% of respondents reporting encountering fakes.
Vodka is also significantly affected at 10%, followed by Craft spirits at 8%.
Wine and Beer both show a 6% prevalence of counterfeits.
Other categories like Whiskey (5%), Rum (3%), Liqueurs (3%), Tequila (1%), and Brandy (1%) are less impacted but still contribute to the overall challenge of illicit alcohol in the market.
