Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged the Mulembe community living in Nairobi to be solid and strategic ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mudavadi said it is high time the Mulembe Community takes the next steps seriously and ensure their vote counts in the city.
He said he will be holding a series of meeting across all the 17 constituencies of Nairobi County and rally the community to vote for President William Ruto for his second term.
"We should be pragmatic and deliberate. We have numbers,
and our unity and network will make a big difference in determining the
petition-free victory for President Ruto," Mudavadi said.
"As we spread the two-term narrative, we must begin working on the numbers that will give President Ruto a defining margin at the ballot."
Mudavadi was speaking in Westlands Primary School during a Church service courtesy of the African Israel Nineveh Church and later when he met with grassroots leaders and the Mulembe community residing in Westlands Constituency.
He said the Mulembe community must remain solid both in Nairobi and the Western Kenya region, terming their support for Ruto an eye-opener and gateway for the Mulembe Presidency come 2032.
"I am the one who opened the door for our region by becoming the first Vice President from Luhya land. I want us to be focused and united so that I also become the one to open the door for Luhya Presidency. This is the route we must take from now," Mudavadi noted.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary said he will now cut down on his foreign trips and focus on consolidating the Mulembe vote for President Ruto.
He said he will be reaching out to different clusters of the
Mulembe people, both in Nairobi and other regions with a series of strategic
meetings beginning with the Westlands one.
"In the run-up to 2022, I was deliberate and assembled a team that helped me meet Luhyas and Western Kenya people from all the 17 constituencies of Nairobi County. I am going to use the same plan and advance the strategy. For those who didn't listen to me in 2022, I here again to show you the direction which is President Ruto and he will win next year. I hope our people will listen carefully to this message," Mudavadi said.
"Here in Nairobi we need to command the numbers. We need more MCAs and our target is more than 30. We need more MPs, Ruto,we need to win the Governor's seat in Nairobi."
Mudavadi said the way other leaders are uniting their people, including President Ruto, he will will also be conveying a series of meeting with Western Kenya leaders for the community to speak with one voice on matters of voting and development.
"If you know you won't manage to go back to the village on the election day, please register here in Nairobi and vote here. We don't want our numbers to be affected. If it means transferring your vote, please do so as IEBC’S window is still open" Mudavadi noted.
"This notion where by we tell you the direction to follow and you neglect is costing us. Others are mistaking the humility from leaders like me, without knowing I have history of tough times that I have gone through. I was once arrested in 1982 for allegations that I was involved in the planning of the coup. Many don't know this story but I can't be shouting on roof tops for our people to understand the direction we are going."
The Prime CS also cautioned leaders who are advocating for chaos in the country saying peace is important for the prosperity of a nation.
He gave an example of the 2007/2008 post election violence as one of the darkest moments for Kenya.
"We lost over 1,400 lives. I sat in the mediation team, and witnessed first hand experiences. We should never allow our country to go that route again," he said.
"I am one of the founders of Pentagon, I formed Nasa and later brought the Earthquake that shaped the country's political landscape in the run up to August 2022. I want to tell our people that I know where to take you, and it is the winning side. We must plan and plan well to succeed."
He lashed out at leaders who are preaching hatred among Kenyans saying President Ruto’s administration has really worked hard to unite Kenyans and ensure equal distribution of resources country wide.
