IEBC officials sort and count ballot papers in the presence of candidates' agents and observers at a polling station in Ol Kalou Constituency/HANDOUT
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has outlined how Kenyans can follow the results of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election as vote counting and tallying continue across the constituency.
In information shared by the commission on Thursday, IEBC said members of the public can access results through its official online results portal once polling station results are transmitted.
You can access the results via the portal here.
The commission explained that results from all 144 polling stations in Ol Kalou Constituency will be processed through the official results transmission system before they are verified and tallied at the constituency tallying centre.
According to the commission, vote counting is taking place at individual polling stations immediately after the close of voting.
At each polling station, the Presiding Officer is responsible for counting ballots cast for the Member of the National Assembly seat and completing the official results forms before transmitting them for tallying.
The results are then forwarded to the constituency tallying centre at Ol Kalou Secondary Hall, where the Returning Officer verifies, tallies and announces the final constituency results.
The commission has also made the results available to the public through its online portal at forms.iebc.or.ke.
To access the results, users should open the portal, select Nyandarua County from the counties list and then click on Ol Kalou Constituency.
The portal allows users to view results from all polling stations or drill down further to results by County Assembly Ward.
Ol Kalou Constituency has five wards: Karau, Kanjuiri Range, Mirangine, Kiambaga and Rurii.
Results from every polling station will become available as official Forms are submitted and uploaded to the portal.
IEBC said the transparent results management process allows candidates' agents to verify the figures at polling stations before transmission.
The commission has maintained that only accredited persons with valid identification and official badges are allowed into the constituency tallying centre to observe the tallying and declaration of results.
It also cautioned political leaders and other stakeholders against actions that could interfere with or delay the tallying process.
The by-election attracted significant political attention, with counting commencing immediately after polling closed at 5pm on Thursday.
The commission has said any disputes arising from the election should be resolved through the courts in accordance with the law.
