‎Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has reviewed the progress of the government's Digital Superhighway Programme, saying the flagship initiative is on course to transform public service delivery and drive Kenya's digital economy.

‎Koskei received an update on the implementation of the programme during a meeting with ICT Principal Secretary John Tanui and representatives from implementing government agencies.

‎The Digital Superhighway Programme is one of the flagship projects under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and seeks to expand digital infrastructure, improve access to government services and accelerate the country's digital transformation.

‎According to the update, implementation is progressing steadily, with continued expansion of digital infrastructure, increased connectivity for public institutions and improved delivery of digital government services.

‎"The programme is progressing well, with continued expansion of digital infrastructure, more public institutions being connected, and steady improvement in the delivery of digital Government services," the statement said.

‎According to Koskei, the meeting reviewed milestones achieved so far, identified areas requiring greater attention and agreed on practical measures to ensure the programme remains on schedule.

The officials also discussed ways of strengthening coordination among implementing agencies to accelerate delivery of key projects.

‎The programme is expected to improve access to government services by digitising public service delivery while enhancing efficiency and reducing the cost of accessing government services.

‎It is also aimed at expanding internet connectivity across the country, enabling more schools, hospitals and government institutions to access reliable digital infrastructure.

‎The government says the Digital Superhighway Programme will create an enabling environment for innovation, attract investment and generate employment opportunities, particularly for young people in the digital economy.

‎It is also expected to support businesses by improving access to digital platforms and strengthening Kenya's competitiveness as a regional technology hub.

‎Koskei reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of the programme, noting that digital transformation remains a key pillar of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

‎The meeting resolved to sustain close collaboration among all implementing agencies to ensure timely delivery of projects and maximise the benefits of digital services to citizens.

‎The Digital Superhighway Programme is one of the government's priority initiatives aimed at building a more connected, efficient and accessible public service while positioning Kenya to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the global digital economy.
