A new Jamia Mosque has officially opened in Isebania, Migori County, marking what Suna East MP Junet Mohamed described as an important milestone for the local Muslim community.
Junet joined Migori Governor Ochillo Ayacko, Council of Governors Chair and Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Lafey MP Abdirahman Mohamed, Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Mohamed, Migori Deputy Governor Joseph Mahiri, businessman Abdullahi Kalmoi, sheikhs, imams, Muslim scholars and other local leaders during the opening ceremony.
The legislator said the new mosque would play a wider role beyond serving as a place of worship.
"Glad to witness the opening of the new Jamia Mosque, Isebania, which is a great milestone for the Muslim community in Isebania, Migori County," Junet said.

Junet added that the facility "will serve not just for prayer, but for fostering unity, teaching Islamic knowledge and bringing the community closer together."
Following the official opening, the leaders took part in a fundraising drive to support the mosque.
"Together with Migori Governor H.E Ochillo Ayacko, COG Chair & Wajir Governor H.E Ahmed Abdullahi, Lafey MP Abdirahman Mohamed, Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Mohamed, Migori Deputy Governor Joseph Mahiri, businessman Abdullahi Kalmoi, sheikhs, imams, Muslim scholars and other local leaders, we later fundraised for the Mosque," Junet said.
