Mumias East MP Peter Salasya shakes hands with DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua when he visited him at his residence on July 7 /X
Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has expressed gratitude to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife, Pastor Dorcas, following a private meeting at their home, saying the encounter inspired and strengthened him ahead of his political journey.
In a post on social media, Salasya thanked Gachagua for setting aside time to mentor him despite his busy schedule.
"My heart is overflowing with gratitude. Thank you so much, Your Excellency Rigathi Gachagua, together with Reverend Mama Dorcas, for the warm and heartfelt welcome into your beautiful home," Salasya said.
The first-term legislator said the discussions with the former DP provided valuable guidance that had renewed his commitment to public service.
"Creating time out of your busy schedule to share your invaluable wisdom and counsel with me was an honour and a blessing that I will always treasure. Your encouragement has inspired me, strengthened my resolve and renewed my commitment to serve with humility and dedication," he said.
Salasya also thanked Dorcas for praying for him during the visit, saying the prayers gave him hope and confidence as he pursues his political ambitions.
"To Reverend Mama Dorcas, I am deeply touched by your heartfelt prayers. They gave me hope, strength and confidence for the journey ahead. I firmly believe that your prayers, together with the priceless counsel from HE, will continue to guide me and propel me forward in my political journey," he said.
The MP said he would remain grateful for the couple's kindness, generosity and the confidence they had shown in him.
"I will forever remain grateful for your kindness, generosity and the faith you have shown in me. May the Almighty God richly bless you both with good health, abundant wisdom and many more years of impactful leadership and service," Salasya said.
The meeting comes amid heightened political activity across the country as leaders continue to forge alliances and position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
Gachagua has been hosting opposition leaders and delegations from various parts of the country at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri as he continues to strategise ahead of 2027.
The DCP leader suspended public rallies last month for a period of 45 days to allow him time to what he described as engagement with like-minded leaders.
