Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has unveiled candidates for the November 27 by-elections, with the party participating in two parliamentary seats.

The Wiper party leader says his party will be fighting to clinch the Magarini Constituency, Kilifi County through Samuel Kombe Nzai, while in Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County, its flagbearer will be Dayon Mbare.

“Wiper Patriotic Front is ready for the upcoming by-elections. We believe leadership is about service, integrity, and standing with the people in every corner of our country. That is why we are presenting candidates who truly reflect the hopes of their communities,” the former Vice President said.

In the ward by-elections, Kalonzo said that WPF will be presenting candidates in at least six areas, with Nyamaiya ward in Nyamira County being subjected to a nomination exercise to pick a candidate between James Kamanda Teya and Daniel Mirambo.

Those who have cleared include Mumbuni North, Machakos County. Anthony Kyalo Kisoi, in Purko, Narok County - Daniel Kiranti, Nyansiongo, Nyamira County - Alex Obare Nyantika, Ekerenyo, Nyamira County - Shem Makori Nyanumba and Nanaam, Turkana County - Peter Lokelo.

However, this is likely to change as WPF is engaging partner parties in the opposition, such as DCP of Rigathi Gachagua Jubilee, DP, DAP-K, and UPA, to field joint candidates in some battlegrounds.

“We are in consultation with our coalition partners to ensure we field a single candidate in every location. Together, we shall #KomboaKenya,” Kalonzo said in a statement.

During the ceremony to unveil the candidates, he was accompanied by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi, and a host of party officials at the WPF secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

Other than Kaspul and Magarini, by-elections will also be held in Banissa, Malava, Mbeere North, and Ugunja Constituencies, as well as the Baringo senatorial seat that fell vacant following the death of Senator William Cheptumo.

The by-elections will be held in 17 wards across the country that include Angata Nanyokie Ward in Samburu County, Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward in Nandi County, Chewani Ward in Tana River County, Fafi Ward in Garissa County, Kariobangi North Ward in Nairobi, and Kisa East Ward in Kakamega.

Others are Metkei Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Mumbuni North Ward in Machakos County, Narok Town Ward in Narok County, Purko Ward in Kajiado County, Tembelio Ward in Uasin Gishu County, Nyansiongo, Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo Wards in Nyamira County, Kabuchai/Chwele Ward in Bungoma County, Lake Zone and Nanaam Wards in Turkana County.
