Detectives in Kiambu County are investigating a shocking domestic attack in which a man stabbed and killed his wife before turning the knife on himself in Juja Town.

The incident happened at dawn on Sunday, September 7, 2025, on the second floor of the Vatican apartment block, according to police and witnesses.

The victim, identified only as Rosemary, reportedly returned home in the early hours of the morning and found her husband asleep.

An argument ensued after she stormed into the bedroom shouting, leading to a violent confrontation that spilled into the kitchen.

A house help who witnessed the fight told police that the man picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife repeatedly in the chest, stomach, and thighs until she collapsed on the floor.

“When I tried to intervene, he stabbed me in the hand,” the house help said, adding that the attack forced her to retreat.

The suspect then turned the knife on himself, stabbing his chest and stomach, before leaping from the balcony in what appeared to be a suicide attempt.

“He did not die but suffered broken limbs,” police said. The man was rushed to hospital in serious condition. The injured house help was also taken to hospital for treatment.

Police officers responding to the distress call found Rosemary dead in the kitchen, lying in a pool of blood. Her body was later moved to Thika General Kago Mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.

Investigators say the motive of the attack remains unclear. Detectives are waiting for the suspect to recover in hospital so he can record a statement and shed light on what triggered the violence.

Kiambu police urged families to resolve disputes peacefully to avoid such tragedies.

“Murder cases linked to domestic disputes and love triangles have been on the rise, and we continue to struggle with solving many of them,” a police officer said.
