President William Ruto and his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta, were on Friday reunited for a peace meeting.

The two shared a platform at State House, Nairobi, during a joint East African Community (EAC) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) co-chairs meeting with the panel of facilitators overseeing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) peace process.

They were last seen together on December 9, 2024, meeting in Ichaweri, Gatundu, when Ruto paid Uhuru a courtesy call.

The President took him on a tour around State House after the meeting.

Kalonzo’s Wiper Party rebrands

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has officially rebranded his political outfit from the Wiper Democratic Movement to the Wiper Party Front.

The move is intended to align with the evolving political consciousness in Kenya, particularly among the youth.

Kalonzo said the decision was driven by the need to bring a new spirit into the party and respond to the changing national mood, especially following the youth-led protests against the Finance Bill 2024.

He noted that they felt the word “democratic” had lost its weight and meaning in today’s political climate, where young Kenyans are increasingly questioning transparency, governance, and accountability.

Stephen Munyakho, a Kenyan national previously on death row in Saudi Arabia, arrived in Nairobi following his release.

He was received by a group of emotional relatives, friends, and government officials.

There were visible scenes of relief and joy as family members embraced him. Some shed tears, while others sang in celebration of his safe return.

His return comes after months of diplomatic engagement, fundraising efforts, and support from Kenyans locally and in the diaspora.

Munyakho had been sentenced to death in 2023, but the sentence was lifted after the family of the deceased accepted diya, commonly known as blood money.
