The court has extended the suspension of the warrant of arrest against Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi and issued fresh summons for him to appear on July 23, 2025.

On Thursday, the court had directed the MP to appear on Friday, July 17, 2025, or alternatively, have his counsel present documents proving he had been admitted to the hospital.

His lawyer told the court that Koimburi had been hospitalised, which explained his absence during the plea taking on Wednesday and during the court mention on Thursday.

On Friday, the counsel informed the court that the MP was undergoing daily neurological treatment at the Karen Hospital.

Koimburi was scheduled to take a plea on Wednesday in relation to conspiracy charges, but he failed to appear. This prompted the court to issue a warrant of arrest against him and two other accused persons.

The warrant of arrest for the two others, sixth accused Peter and seventh accused Njuguna, alias Njugush, remains in force.

The MP is accused of allegedly stage-managing his own kidnapping alongside six other individuals. This was reportedly done to prevent his arrest and arraignment at the Kiambu Law Courts, where he is facing four counts of land fraud as directed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Other accused persons in the case include Kanyenya-ini Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu and Juja Constituency Development Fund Chairman Peter Kirato Muhia.

Koimburi also faces an additional charge of publishing false information after he released a statement through a YouTube channel claiming he had been abducted and tortured.

Five of his co-accused appeared in court and were released on a cash bail of Sh300,000 each.

The matter will be mentioned on July 23, 2025, for further directions.
