Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed the growing
"one-term president" narrative pushed by political rivals, insisting
that President William Ruto remains focused on delivering his promises to
Kenyans.
Speaking during an Economic Empowerment Engagement event at Gachie Primary School in Kiambaa Constituency, Kindiki emphasised that the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to improving the lives of ordinary citizens, regardless of political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Our focus is not how long President William Ruto will be in office, but how much transformation his administration will do in the lives of ordinary citizens,” said the Deputy President.
Kindiki affirmed that the government’s priority is to complete ongoing development projects and launch new ones that address the needs of communities across the country.
“When it’s time for campaigns, we will come with a scorecard of what we have achieved and what we did for the people of Kiambu and other areas,” he said.
“It will be time for everyone to do so, including our opponents who occupied influential positions before.”
Urging leaders to put service above politics, Kindiki said it is time to support the most vulnerable in society without being driven by political interests.
He also announced that the government has invested over Sh70 billion in development projects in Kiambu County alone, spanning infrastructure, housing, healthcare, and education.
Among the key projects highlighted include Karura-Gachie-Gacharage Road, which is nearing completion and is expected to improve connectivity and boost local trade and Kiambaa KMTC Campus, currently under development and has received Sh200 million, with part of the funds allocated for the construction of affordable student hostels.
Wangunyi Technical Training Institute has secured Sh70 million for construction and an additional Sh281 million to build hostels for students.
A total of 26 modern markets are being constructed across Kiambu County, with three located in Kiambaa Constituency.
Kindiki said these projects reflect the government’s commitment to equitable development and economic empowerment.
“Kiambu is a major beneficiary of the national development agenda, and this is just the beginning. We are working to ensure that every Kenyan feels the impact of government at the grassroots level,” he said.
