Kenya Revenue Authority headquarters Times Tower, Nairobi.
The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced a scheduled maintenance of the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on Sunday, July 13.
According to a public notice issued by the authority, the maintenance exercise will begin at 4am and end at 10am, lasting a total of six hours.
During that window, the iCMS platform will be inaccessible to all users.
KRA has advised stakeholders to plan their operations accordingly, as the system will be temporarily unavailable throughout the maintenance period.
“Kenya Revenue Authority informs all stakeholders that there will be a scheduled maintenance of ICMS. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” reads the notice.
The iCMS is a key digital platform used in processing customs transactions.
Its temporary shutdown may impact importers, exporters, clearing agents, and other players in the trade logistics chain.
KRA has not specified the nature of the maintenance, but such exercises are typically aimed at enhancing system stability, performance, or security.
The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) implemented the Integrated Customs Management System to enhance trade facilitation and modernise customs operations.
The system manages sea manifests, house manifests, and other customs-related documents, integrating various functions into a single platform and eliminating the need for multiple systems.
By automating previously manual or semi-manual processes, iCMS reduces paperwork, minimises human error, and streamlines the entire import and export process.
Through system-to-system data exchange, iCMS significantly shortens cargo clearance times, which in turn lowers transaction costs for traders.
The platform also strengthens compliance with customs regulations and improves coordination between customs authorities, traders, and other stakeholders.
By promoting transparency in operations, iCMS helps curb malpractices and ensures greater accountability.
Additionally, it enables real-time tracking of cargo, reducing the risk of diversion or loss.
