Tragedy struck a construction site when one of the workers there died after falling from the ninth floor of the structure in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area.
The incident
happened on June 17 along Muratina Road, police said.
Witnesses said Sakong Chelibeli, 38, tripped and fell from the ninth floor to the
ground floor, where he died instantly.
The construction
works were suspended at the site pending investigations, police said.
Such incidents are
common at sites amid calls for action to address the trend.
Elsewhere, a man
collapsed and died at a construction site along Riverside Drive, Nairobi.
The victim, identified as
Dishan Oduor, 47, was at the site when he collapsed on Tuesday evening,
witnesses and police said.
Police said they moved
the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.
Elsewhere, a 57-year-old woman
collapsed and died in a house in Limuru, Nairobi.
The cause of death of Elizabeth
Nyawira on Tuesday afternoon is yet to be established.
She was a housekeeper at a
house at Oakridge estate in the Kentmere area.
Police said her body was found
lying in a prone position in the living room area and had blood oozing from the
mouth, suspected to be from injuries suffered when the deceased collapsed and
fell face-first.
In the Juja area, a driver of a
school in Mukuyu was found dead in his house.
The police said workers at the
school had gone to wake up Robert Nyagah, 48, in vain, as he was not responding.
Police officers proceeded to
the scene and gained entry, where they found him dead in a decomposing state in
his rented room.
Elsewhere in Wangarot village,
Aram, Siaya County, one John Onyango, 35, died in a tunnel as he excavated gold
at a gold mine site.
He was among those who had
ventured into the tunnel for the minerals when he fell back into the pit while
climbing out.
The body was moved to the
mortuary.
Such accidents are common at gold mine sites amid efforts to address the trend. Last week, four people were killed at a gold mine site in West Pokot County.
