The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has raised concerns over the unexplained transfer of activist and software developer Rose Njeri from Pangani Police Station, where she had been detained since her arrest last week.

Speaking outside the station on Tuesday morning, LSK President Faith Odhiambo confirmed that a legal team had arrived at the station shortly after 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2025, only to be informed that Njeri had been moved moments earlier.

“We ask our LSK members to be vigilant today(Tuesday, June 3, 2025). We are trying to find out which court she will be presented in, as she (Rose Njeri) was moved from Pangani police station early this morning.”

“We are currently at Pangani Police Station. We arrived here early in the morning, just a few minutes past 7:30, and were told that she had just been picked up,” the LSK President said.

Odhiambo said that Njeri’s lawyer, Sam, who has been with her throughout and is one of the LSK’s legal representatives, was at the station only to find that she had already been taken away.

The LSK is now trying to trace Njeri’s whereabouts and determine at which court she will be arraigned.

“We are following up to find out where she has been taken and where she shall be arraigned,” the President added.

“We also urge our advocates across the country to remain vigilant. If Rose is brought before any court, please alert us so that we can ensure she is well represented, or step in immediately to prevent her from being unrepresented.”

Rose Njeri was arrested on Friday, May 30, allegedly over a digital platform she developed to facilitate public participation on the controversial Finance Bill 2025.

Her arrest has sparked widespread condemnation from civil society, tech communities, and political leaders who say her actions were constitutional and civic-minded.

The LSK has vowed to continue pursuing her release and defending her constitutional rights.
