Leaders on Friday visited the family of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were.
Ong’ondo was shot dead by two gunmen on a motorbike along Ngong Road near City Mortuary on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The National Police Service said the fatal shooting of the MP appeared to have been both “targeted and predetermined,” raising alarm over the motive behind the brazen attack on a sitting legislator.
Leaders and Kenyans have come out to condole with the family of Were and called for a swift probe.

Among the leaders present were Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Burial Committee chairman Peter Kaluma, Clerk National Assembly Samuel Njoroge and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, among others.
The leaders are also part of the burial committee, which held a meeting to deliberate on the issues.
