Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has officially taken over the Public Service docket on an interim basis following the exit of former CS Justin Muturi.

In a statement, Mudavadi expressed gratitude to Muturi for his leadership and dedication during his tenure as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.

He acknowledged Muturi’s contributions in advancing public service delivery and ensuring efficiency within the government.

“We sincerely thank Justin Muturi for his steadfast leadership and commitment to advancing public service during his time as Cabinet Secretary,” Mudavadi stated.

President William Ruto fired Muturi and replaced him with Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, who is awaiting parliamentary approval before he is formally appointed.

Ruku, who is Muturi’s MP, has been President Ruto’s staunch supporter and a member of the Democratic Party(DP).

Mudavadi said the smooth transition comes as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline leadership roles and enhance efficiency in governance.

Mudavadi assured the public that his office would oversee public service duties until a new appointment is confirmed.

“This morning, Muturi officially handed over his docket (Public Service) to my office as the Prime Cabinet Secretary on an interim basis, facilitating the verification and approval process for the newly appointed,” Mudavadi said.

He further emphasized that the transition was smooth, ensuring continuity in government operations without disruptions.

The move, he noted, reinforces the government’s commitment to accountability and effective service delivery.

“The smooth transition ensures continuity in government operations, reinforcing our commitment to efficient governance and accountability,” he added.

As Mudavadi takes charge of the docket, attention now shifts to the upcoming appointment of the new Public Service Cabinet Secretary.

The verification and approval process for Ruku is expected to be conducted in accordance to follow the law on approval and hearing by the National Assembly.

Muturi’s exit marked yet another reshuffle within the government, which President Ruto said is aimed at strengthening service delivery and maintaining stability in key ministries.
