Crime scene

Detectives are investigating an incident where a senior female police officer collapsed and died in her compound in Juja, Kiambu County.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Susan Mangiso Sarioyo collapsed and died in a poultry house in her compound within Jacaranda Court Estate, Juja South, police said.

She was in charge of personnel at the Kasarani police sub-county.

The cause of the death is yet to be determined. Neighbours said they heard screams from her compound on Thursday afternoon, and on rushing there, they found her lifeless body on the floor.

Police said the officer was on leave at the time of the incident.

Senior police officers visited the scene and confirmed the same. They described her as a hardworking and listening officer.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

This is the second such incident to happen in weeks. Another female officer collapsed and died outside Mbaraki police station in Mombasa two weeks ago. The cause of the death was not disclosed.

Meanwhile, a man fell from a stool and died as he repaired the roof of a structure in Soweto, Kayole, Nairobi.

Police said Joseph Ogal, 70, was repairing a structure alone on the third floor of an apartment when he slid from the stool he was standing on and fell to the floor headfirst.

The deceased had been contracted to repair a chicken house on the third floor when the incident happened.

The body was found several hours after the man had died, police said.

It is believed he slid and fell off, injuring his head.

Police visited the scene and found the body lying on the third floor of the premises with the head and back on the floor and the legs on a stool believed to have been used to access the top of the structure.

Some injury marks were visible at the back of the head, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary following the Thursday incident.

Police said they are investigating the incident.
