Nandi Senator Kiprotich Arap Cherargei has backed the pact signed by President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on March 7, 2025.

The senator asserts that the collaboration by the two leaders at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) was authentic and sincere, adding that the nation would be more united under the duo.

The Nandi Senator further stated that the partnership led to a more equitable distribution of government positions between the two leaders, citing the recent shuffles of the chairpersons in the Senate and National Assembly committees.

"The Ruto-Raila handshake 2025 is a genuine partnership, as you can see in the election of chairpersons in the Senate and National Assembly and the looming cabinet reshuffle/PSs & senior government official appointments,” he stated on his social media handle.

“The country is now more united, cohesive, and prosperous under the leadership of H.E Ruto and Baba Raila.”

The sentiments by Gerargei come after a section of allies aligned to the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were relieved of their duties from key Parliamentary Committee positions in the recent past.

Among the leaders to face the purge is Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro, who was replaced by Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi as the Chairperson of the National Assembly's Budget and Appropriations Committee unopposed.

Atandi was the only contestant who had submitted his papers at the close of nominations.

"I thank my party leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto for the idea of the broad-based government," Atandi said.

The former DP had lamented over the purge, adding that the move was unfair given that they stood with the president during the previous 2022 general elections.

"I am even surprised that some of those who are supporting the government move are from the Mount Kenya region," the former DP said on Sunday while at a church service at ACK Holy Trinity Kitengela Church in Kajiado County.
