In the counties, 113.800 candidates have so far registered to contest.

UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire said candidate registration is now open and will remain available until Friday, March 21, 2025, at midnight.

“Interested members can register through our online portal UDA.ke,” Mbarire said.

She said the party has so far successfully conducted elections in five counties.

This follows a meeting between the National Steering Committee and the National Elections Board.

The leaders met on Monday to deliberate on the upcoming phase 2 of the UDA Grassroots elections.

“These elections represent a pivotal moment in our journey towards strengthening democracy in our nation. Grassroots elections are vital in ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard and represented,” she said.

“By empowering local leaders, we cultivate a leadership that is not only responsive but also accountable to the people.”

She said the UDA's foresight strategy emphasizes participatory leadership as a cornerstone of the democratic framework.

She said true democracy flourishes when every citizen has the opportunity to engage in the political process.

“We have procured over 10,000 gadgets to ensure that the elections are conducted seamlessly through a digital electronic framework that will ensure the election is open, free, fair and with instantaneous results at polls closure.”

She called on Kenyans to join the party on the electoral process and help shape the future of democracy.

“Together, we can ensure that every voice is represented, and every community has the leadership it deserves.”
