Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has reiterated that the opposition will send home President William Ruto in 2027.

Speaking at ACK Trinity Church, Kitengela Township in Kajiado county, Gachagua said Ruto has “swallowed” the opposition and will now do whatever he wishes in the remaining two years of his first term.

“I know people think that two years is a long time; don’t worry, two years may look long but time moves very fast. Do not worry, the time is coming,” he stated.

Gachagua urged Gen Zs and Millennials to register as voters in large numbers when the time comes.

“Gen Zs and Millennials will sort out the problem of Kenya once and for all in the next election. As much as you are doing a good job on the Internet, the real task lies ahead,” Gachagua said.

“Politics is a game of numbers and the numbers are good. Kenyans have told us to get the formula and we have it. I have never made wrong calculations.”

MPs James Gakuya (Embakasi North), Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North), and Jane Kihara (Naivasha), senators John Methu (Nyandarua), Seki ole Kanar (Kajiado) and Joe Nyutu (Murang’a) and former lawmakers Cate Waruguru and Victor Munyaka accompanied Gachagua to the church service.

The former DP further said Ruto’s re-election bid will be dented by the spate of abductions witnessed during his first term.

“Youths are abducted and killed by officers. The government you lead is killing children who are just agitating for their rights. I had a big problem with Ruto over abductions and extra judicial killings,” he stated.

The country witnessed a wave of abductions at the height of Gen Z-led anti-government protests in June last year with human rights agencies putting the number of disappeared people at close to 100.

Some of those alleged to have been abducted were later found alive.

To quell the Gen Z uprising, Ruto opted to incorporate the opposition in a new-look broad-based government which he said would have the country's face.

“Even if you unite with the opposition and announce as many roads, abductions will bring you down," Gachagua said.

The former DP further alleged, without proof, that plans were underway to sell the Bomas of Kenya.

“The matter was first brought to Cabinet and I said no. Now that I'm out, the matter is back,” he said.
