Decomposing body of man with stab wounds found in Riruta house

Detectives are looking for the killers of a man whose decomposing body was found in his house in the Riruta area, Nairobi.

His neighbours said they had been disturbed by a foul smell from his house, prompting them to check what the source was.

It was then that they found the deceased, identified as Robert Kinyua, 23 dead on Tuesday.

It is not clear when he died, but officials said that given the body was decomposing, there is a possibility the incident happened at least two days earlier.

The residents called the police to the scene.

Police who visited the scene said the body had stab wounds on the collarbone and right thigh.

The assailants and motive are yet to be known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations, police said.

Police said they are investigating murder in the incident.

In Masii, Machakos County, the body of Simon Mutula, 42 was found on the roadside after suspected murder.

The deceased’s body had both legs and one right hand broken, police said.

The man seemed to have been killed at the scene, police said.

The body also had a deep cut on the forehead with blood oozing from the nose as well as some bruises on the waist and dragging injuries at the back of the head, police said.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known.

The body was moved to Machakos Funeral Home, awaiting postmortem.

Elsewhere in Borabu, Nyamira County, a suspect was arrested over the murder of a villager.

One Evans Nyakururu was found dead in a tea plantation after an attack.

Police said the body had visible injuries when it was discovered on Tuesday.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known. The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.

A suspect was later arrested over the murder, police said.

Meanwhile, a man was killed as he and his colleagues harvested stones for ballast at the Kibae quarry site within Kandara, Muranga County.

Witnesses said the quarry collapsed, fatally trapping James Gatei, 52.

A second man was injured and rushed to hospital in serious condition.

Police said they are investigating the tragedy.

 Police have warned locals against venturing there for the stones. Many locals venture to the quarry for stones, oblivious to the danger therein.

Officials say the site is unsafe.
