Tributes continue to pour in following the death of Malava MP Malulu Injendi.
President William Ruto has joined Kenyans in consoling with the family and friends of the legislator offering prayers for strength during this difficult time.
The President described MP Malulu as a diligent, focused and devoted leader in his capacity at different levels of leadership.
MP Malulu died on Monday while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
"I am saddened by the death of a friend and colleague, Mheshimiwa Malulu Injendi. He was a towering leader who selflessly served the people of Malava Constituency. A believer in equal opportunities, Mheshimiwa was diligent, focused and devoted to public service," the President said on X.
"He will best be remembered for his passion for education. Our prayers are with the family, friends and the people of Malava at this painful time. Rest In Peace, My Friend."
Malulu was the Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency and Vice Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Education and Research.
He was serving his third term as an MP, having served continuously since 2013 (11th Parliament).
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said the departure of the legislature is a great loss to the country and Malava constituency.
Injendi was elected under the Amani National Congress Party, led by the Prime Cabinet CS.
"Passionate, principled, and tireless in his advocacy, he worked relentlessly to uplift his people and advance education policy. His contributions in shaping key legislation will leave a lasting impact on Kenya’s education sector and beyond,” Mudavadi said.
“As we mourn Injendi, my thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the people of Malava during this difficult time. May his legacy of service and dedication continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, my brother.”
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula mourned MP Malulu, saying he served his constituents with dedication and passion.
"He served his constituents with unwavering commitment and integrity. His tireless efforts and contribution to our legislative processes, particularly the education sector and sugar industry, aimed at improving the lives of Kenyan people will be deeply missed," the speaker said.
"As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Injendi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituent, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him."
Leader of the Majority and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah described him as a passionate and committed legislator, whose tireless advocacy transformed lives in Malava.
“It is with heartfelt sympathy that we mourn a colleague and friend, Malulu Injendi. His dedication to serving Malava and his unwavering commitment to uplifting his constituents were an inspiration to all who had the privilege of working alongside him in Parliament,” Ichung’wah said.
Reflecting on their time together, Ichung’wah praised Injendi’s integrity and leadership, emphasizing that his legacy would endure.
“I was honoured to serve with him and will always remember his passion, integrity, and tireless advocacy for the people. His legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched,” he added.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa echoed these sentiments, hailing Injendi as an exemplary leader known for his level-headedness, selflessness, and ability to articulate issues with clarity and conviction.
“My condolences extend to his family, friends, and the constituents of Malava. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Barasa said.
Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka expressed his sadness, remembering Injendi as a respected colleague and friend.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague and friend, Moses Malulu Injendi, Malava Constituency Member of Parliament,” he tweeted.
Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang paid tribute to Injendi’s service and faith, acknowledging his life as one dedicated to the glory of God and the welfare of others.
“We give thanks for a life so well lived to God’s glory and in service to others. Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy saints. May the Lord comfort his family, friends, and the people he served with such devotion. Rest in peace, Hon. Malulu Injendi.”
