Police are investigating murder in two separate
incidents where bodies were found in a sugarcane plantation and an irrigation
drainage in Migori.
Police said the incidents happened in Awendo and Nyatike.
The first incident happened at a sugarcane plantation
where workers stumbled on the decomposed body of a man in Awendo.
Cane cutters reported they stumbled on the remains of a
human body while cutting cane at the nuclear farm zone.
Police visited the scene and established that a badly
decomposed naked body was lying dead with both hands chopped off just under the
elbow and missing.
It is suspected the man had died many days earlier.
The remains were moved to the Migori County Hospital
mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
In the Nyatike area, Migori County, the body of one Alex
Moni, was found lying in an irrigation drainage system.
Police officers who visited the scene said they
established that the body had severe head injuries.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and
other investigations.
The motive of the murder in both incidents, which
happened at an unknown date but discovered on January 5 is yet to be
established, police said adding an investigation had been opened.
In Mbita, Homabay County, a woman was found murdered in
her home in Wariga village.
A team that visited the scene said they found the body
lying on the floor while bleeding on both nose and mouth.
The husband of the woman is yet to be found for
questioning over the murder.
Relatives told police there had been a domestic misunderstanding
between the couple in the past days.
A stainless kitchen knife, a mobile phone, and a pair of
grey sandals were found at the scene.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and
other investigations.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy died by suicide in the Awendo
area, Migori County.
The body of the juvenile was found hanging on a sisal
rope from the rafters of his grandfather’s house.
The motive of the incident is yet to be established,
police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other
investigations.
