Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Wednesday held a consultative meeting with Nandi County leaders at his Karen office in Nairobi, where they reviewed the progress of national government development projects and agreed on measures to accelerate their implementation.

The meeting brought together the Governor, Senator and Members of the National Assembly from Nandi County in a broad assessment of ongoing projects covering electricity connectivity, water supply, road infrastructure, education, healthcare, markets and other public investments.

According to the Deputy President, the engagement formed part of the government's regular consultations with elected leaders aimed at evaluating the status, pace and impact of development projects while identifying new priority areas that require government intervention.

"Regular engagement with elected leaders provides crucial feedback on the status, pace and impact of development projects in their areas of representation. The engagement is also important for the identification of future priority projects," Kindiki said after the meeting.

He said the discussions focused on ensuring that projects funded by the national government are completed within the expected timelines and deliver tangible benefits to residents across Nandi County.

The leaders also agreed on practical modalities to fast-track the implementation of stalled and ongoing projects, with emphasis placed on closer coordination between government agencies, local leaders and contractors.

Kindiki urged the county's political leadership to continue working together in the interest of development, saying unity among leaders would help speed up service delivery and improve oversight of public projects.

"We agreed on modalities for fast-tracking the projects and encouraged the leaders to continue pulling together to ensure good quality works from contractors and effective communication of government programmes and projects to the people," he said.

The Deputy President stressed that collaboration between national and county leaders remains essential in monitoring the progress of development initiatives and ensuring taxpayers receive value for money through quality infrastructure and public services.

The meeting comes as the Kenya Kwanza administration continues to intensify consultations with regional leaders as part of its strategy to monitor implementation of its development agenda across the country.

Projects under review in Nandi County span critical sectors that directly affect livelihoods, including improved road networks, expanded electricity access, enhanced water services, upgraded health facilities, education infrastructure and modern market facilities aimed at boosting local economic activity.

The consultative forum also provided an opportunity for Nandi leaders to present emerging development priorities and share feedback from residents on the implementation of government programmes.

The leaders committed to maintaining close collaboration with the national government to ensure projects are completed on schedule and that communities remain informed about ongoing and planned development initiatives.
