President William Ruto joined young people on stage in a dance performance during the launch of the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata, Nairobi, on Friday.
The President danced to the song Tunaweza by Trio Mio, Iyanii and Femi One before officially launching the programme.
Dressed in a golden-yellow patterned shirt and a black cap, Ruto smiled as he matched the dancers' choreography, moving in sync with the youths as the audience cheered.
The event also marked the disbursement of more than Sh3 billion to over 122,000 young entrepreneurs across all 47 counties, with each beneficiary receiving Sh25,000 under the second tranche of the programme.
The latest disbursement brings the total support received by each beneficiary under the NYOTA programme to Sh50,000.
During the launch, Ruto announced additional measures aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs as they grow their businesses.
The measures include a proposed two-year business permit waiver to be implemented in collaboration with county governments, the establishment of a dedicated NYOTA Growth Product through government financing institutions, and a national identification mechanism to enable beneficiaries to access government services and incentives more easily.
The President said the programme is helping young people transform small grants into sustainable businesses, describing NYOTA as one of the country's largest investments in youth enterprise.
