Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has been invited to deliver a lecture and receive an international award at the 3rd Edition of the UNIPGC Global Leadership Investment Summit and Peace Awards (GLISPA), set to take place at the House of Lords in London, United Kingdom, next month.
In an official invitation signed by Kate Sovedagari, Vice President (Finance) of the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC), Sonko was described as one of the distinguished personalities selected to address the summit’s joint institutional lecture on Public Service Governance.
Alongside delivering his lecture, Sonko will be honoured with a Leadership Excellence Award, to be presented by one of the Lords in the British Parliament.
“During this event, Your Excellency Sir, you will be honoured along with other global leaders with a Leadership Excellence Award by UNIPGC,” the letter read.
“Your selection is based on your illustrious political career and capacity-building prowess, through which you have demonstrated a deep perspective in transformational leadership excellence,” the letter stated.
The organisers — UNIPGC in collaboration with the American
University of Peace and Governance (AUPG), USA — noted that Sonko’s work has
positioned him as a significant figure in governance and economic development.
“With an expansive mastery in both bilateral and
multilateral commerce, you are poised as a significant figure in global
economic arenas. This recognition underscores the high regard in which you are
held within the global leaders’ community,” the organisers added.
The event is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the House of Lords, British Parliament, London.
The organisers requested Sonko to confirm his participation
through UNIPGC’s African Continental Chapter by August 30, to facilitate
logistics and welfare arrangements.
“We look forward to your letter of acceptance and
availability to take this role, as this will enable us to make the necessary
arrangements,” the invitation concluded.
The GLISPA summit brings together global policymakers,
academics, and leaders to discuss governance, peace, and sustainable
development, while recognising individuals who have made notable contributions
in leadership and public service.
