The suspects, a man and a woman who appeared in Machakos Law Courts on Thursday, were remanded at the Machakos men and Women G.K prisons respectively, following a court order.

This was after the prosecution challenged their pleas to be released on either cash bail or bond terms, stating they would be facing more similar charges in various courts in Machakos and Kakamega, among other parts of the country.

They appeared before Senior Principle Magistrate James Omburah.

The magistrate, who had initially issued the two Sh300,000 bonds, each revoked it, ordering them to be remanded in the prisons pending collection to Kyumbi, Mlolongo, and Athi River police stations to be charged with similar offenses.

The duo is said to be part of a four-member gang that has been using a private vehicle to disguise themselves as passengers on Mombasa Road.

They later threaten, harm, and rob their innocent victims of valuables such as mobile phones, laptops, cash, and at times force their victims to transfer money from their multiple accounts; mobile money transfers from banks and M-pesa accounts.

The prosecution stated that several cases of robbery with violence had earlier been reported across various police stations. The suspects had been evading police dragnets until recently when they were nabbed.

Three victims recently reported to police that they had been robbed of Sh80,000, Sh200,000, and Sh222,000 in a similar way respectively. They accused the same suspects of being part of the gang that robbed them of their hard - earned cash.

Two members of the same gang were also arrested in Kakamega County and have been linked to several murder incidents. A police source divulged that they would be produced to Machakos to face similar charges in various courts.

Police said so far, six cases against the gang have been reported at Machakos Police Station, four at the Machakos DCI offices, three at Mlolongo Police Station, and three at Kyumbi Police Station. Additional cases have been reported in Kakamega and Londiani.
